Skybell, Medeiros & Torres Set For ELLA MINNOW PEA Workshop
0Steven Skybell (former Dr. Dillamond – 1st Ntl. Tour, San Francisco, Broadway, Chicago), Joseph Medeiros (former ensemble, u/s Boq – Broadway), and Mariand Torres (former s/b Elphaba – 1st Ntl. Tour) will perform in a private workshop performance of ELLA MINNOW PEA, a musical fantasy about disintegrating language on an island. This musical is written by Scott Burkell and Paul Loesel (original pianist for WICKED), with Dominick Amendum (former music director/conductor/associate music supervisor for WICKED) as the music director and Matthew Doebler (former rehearsal pianist for WICKED) as the associate music director. Performances will be from October 25-October 26, following rehearsals in a developmental lab. ELLA MINNOW PEA is produced by Breaking Bread Theatre and Third Coast Creative.

Michael DeVries has re-joined the production as the Witch’s Father/Ozian Official & u/s Wizard/Dr. Dillamond. Eric Jon Mahlum, who temporarily replaced Mr. DeVries, has left the production.
Ryan Patrick Kelly (former swing) has left the production.
1st National Tour
Tom Flynn (former Dr. Dillamond – 1NT, San Francisco) has left the production. Steven Skybell (former Dr. Dillamond – San Francisco, Broadway, Chicago) replaces Mr. Flynn
2nd National Tour
Michelle London (former ensemble, u/s Glinda, Nessarose – 2NT; former ensemble, u/s Glinda – Chicago) has left the production. Rachel Potter, who appeared on MTV’s “Legally Blonde – The Musical: The Search For The Next Elle Woods”, replaces Ms. London in the ensemble and as the new Glinda understudy. Ensemble member Lesley McKinnell (former swing, u/s Nessaorse, Midwife – 1NT) now understudies Nessarose on the second tour in addition to understudying Glinda.

On February 9, 2010, Paul Slade Smith (former 1st National Tour) replaces Steven Skybell as Dr. Dillamond, and Libby Servais (former 2nd National Tour u/s) replaces Natalie Daradich as the standby for Glinda.
As previously reported, Jody Gelb (Madame Morrible) and Etai BenShlomo (Boq) also begin performances tomorrow. A headshot for Felicia Ricci (u/s Elphaba) who joined the company on February 5, is available as well.
In addition, Lauren Haughton has replaced Angel Reda in the ensemble, and Felicia Ricci has replaced Laura Purgelise, and is understudying Elphaba. Also, both Brenda Hamilton and Samantha Zack have joined as Swings. with Hamilton understudying the Midwife and Zack understudying the Witch’s Mother. Robert Pendila has also joined as a swing.

The website has not been updated, however, Steven Skybell has taken over the role of Dr. Dillamond, a role he played for a good while on Broadway. Betsy Struxness is no longer with the cast, because she moved to the Broadway Production. Neka Zang will be the new understudy for Nessarose.
