Shoshana Bean (former Elphaba – 1st Ntl. Tour, Broadway; former s/b Elphaba, u/s Nessarose – Broadway) will be a presenter at the second annual Jerry Herman Awards, celebrating achievement in high school musical theatre in Los Angeles, May 19 at Hollywood’s Pantages Theatre. The ceremony is set for 7 PM and will include presenters from Broadway, film and television. The Jerry Herman Awards is the local award ceremony for The National High School Musical Theatre Awards, also known as “The Jimmy’s”, which takes place annually at Broadway’s Minskoff Theatre.

Both Shoshana Bean (former Elphaba – 1st Ntl. Tour, Broadway; former s/b Elphaba, u/s Nessarose – Broadway) and Alli Mauzey (former Glinda – Broadway, 1st Ntl. Tour, San Francisco; former s/b Glinda – Broadway) have played the role of Sydney in a production of IT’S A BIRD…IT’S A PLANE…IT’S SUPERMAN. Ms. Bean was in the 2007 Musicals in Mufti production and Ms. Mauzey was in the 2013 City Center Encores! production.

Clifton Davis (Dr. Dillamond – 1st Ntl. Tour) played the role of Reverend Reuben Gregory on the television series Amen, which also starred the late Sherman Hemsley.

Both Hayley Podschun (Glinda – 2nd Ntl. Tour)  and Phillip Spaeth (former Asst. Dance Captain, swing u/s Chistery – Los Angeles; former swing, u/s Chistery – San Francisco; former Chistery – Broadway) appeared in the 2007 HAIRSPRAY film as part of the Corny Collins Council. Ms. Podschun played the role of Tammy and Mr. Spaeth played the role of Fender.

Shoshana Bean (former Elphaba – 1st Ntl. Tour, Broadway; former s/b Elphaba, u/s Nessarose – Broadway), Lilli Cooper (ensemble, u/s Elphaba – 2nd Ntl. Tour), Alexa Green (former ensemble, u/s Glinda – San Francisco, Los Angeles) and Marty Thomas (former ensemble, u/s Boq; former swing, u/s Boq – Broadway) will perform at THE BROADWAY IN SOUTH AFRICA 5TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION on May 6 at New York City’s Prince George Ballroom. This star-studded concert will feature original music based on essays and letters from South African students who participate in youth developmental programs sponsored by Broadway in South Africa. Broadway in South Africa is an organization that facilitates arts programming to empower youth living amongst violence, poverty and disease in the townships of South Africa.

The first 50 tickets for this event can be purchased for 50 percent off and include admission to the post-performance reception. Several “Wicked” Alumni to be featured in “Imagine: A Celebration of Life”

Several current and former “Wicked” cast members will be featured in the benefit concert, Imagine: A Celebration of Life on May 7 at the Highline Ballroom in Manhattan at 7 PM. This event is presented by University Hospitals Case Medical Center’s Seidman Cancer Center and is led by Betsy Werbel (ensemble, u/s Madame Morrible – Broadway; former ensemble, u/s Madame Morrible – 1st Ntl. Tour). The concert is in honor of Ms. Werbel’s brother, Brian, who passed away on May 7, 2007 at the age of 29. The Brian Werbel Memorial Fund was established in memory of his life and to advance cancer research. Several Wicked alumni, as well as cast members from other Broadway shows will be featured at this event, including Shoshana Bean (former Elphaba – 1st Ntl. Tour, Broadway; former Elphaba s/b – Broadway), Richard H. Blake (Fiyero – Broadway; former Fiyero – 1st Ntl. Tour), Jennifer DiNoia (upcoming s/b Elphaba – Asia Tour; former s/b Elphaba – Broadway, Sydney, Chicago; former swing, u/s Elphaba, u/s Nessarose – Chicago), Marty Thomas (former ensemble, u/s Boq – Broadway), Adinah Alexander (former Midwife, ensemble, u/s Madame Morrible – Broadway), Ben Liebert (former Boq – 1st Ntl.
