0Apologies for this being a day late!
Miriam Margolyes (former Madame Morrible – Broadway, West End) provided the voice of “Fly” in the animate movie “Babe: Pig in the City”. Additionally, Pippa Grandison (former Elphaba – Sydney) provided some additional voices for the film.
Four out of the eight ladies who performed the role of Elphaba in “Wicked” Los Angeles also performed the role of Maureen in a professional production of “Rent”: Eden Espinosa (former Elphaba – San Francisco, Los Angeles, 1NT, Broadway; former s/b Elphaba, u/s Nessarose – Broadway), Julie Reiber (former s/b Elphaba – Broadway, Los Angeles), Courtney Corey (former ensemble, u/s Elphaba – Los Angeles, Chicago), and Caissie Levy (former Elphaba, s/b Elphaba – Los Angeles; former ensemble, u/s Elphaba – Broadway). 0Apologies for the lateness!
Stephanie J. Block (former Elphaba – 1NT, Broadway; former u/s Elphaba – San Francisco tryout) is married to fellow Wicked alumnus Sebastian Arcelus (former Fiyero – 1NT, Broadway); the two met after starring together in the show and married in October 2007. They are not the only Wicked couples – Deedee Magno Hall (former Nessarose – 1NT, San Francisco) and Cliffton Hall (former Fiyero – 1NT, San Francisco) are married and have a son together, and Idina Menzel’s (former Elphaba – Broadway, West End) husband Taye Diggs joined the show briefly in early 2004 as Fiyero when Norbert Leo Butz (former Fiyero – Broadway, and funnily enough the husband of original Broadway Nessarose, Michelle Federer) became injured.
Emily Tierney (former u/s Nessarose – West End) was at one point considered as a Glinda cover in “Wicked” but was deemed to be too tall – however she is now starring in this role in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s new West End production of “The Wizard of Oz”!
Willemijn Verkaik (former Elphaba – Stuttgart, Oberhausen) does not speak German as her first language; she is originally from the Netherlands and worked on the script with a voice coach in order to perfect her dialect for the German production of “Wicked”.
