Cast Update: West End

Louise Dearman has replaced Rachel Tucker as Elphaba.

Ben Freeman has replaced Matt Willis as Fiyero.

Katie Rowley Jones has replaced Lillie Flynn as Nessarose and is also an understudy for Elphaba.

Sam Lupton has replaced Adam Pettigrew as Boq.

Louise Plowright has replaced Julie Legrand as Madame Morrible.

Hayley Gallivan has replaced Nikki Davis-Jones as the standby for Elphaba.

Lucy van Gasse has replaced Chloe Taylor as the standby for Glinda.

Paulo Teixeira is now an understudy for Boq, in addition to performing in the ensemble and playing Chistery.

Stuart Ramsey has replaced Kieran Brown in the ensemble, as the Witch’s Father, and as an understudy for The Wizard and Dr. Dillamond.

Lindsay Taylor and Emma Green have joined the ensemble and will be alternating as the Witch’s Mother, replacing Bonnie Parker.

Ashley Andrews, Alex Louize Bird, Andrew Bryant, Sophie Carmen-Jones, Enobong Essien, Harry Francis, David Rudin, Charlotte Scott, Sam Taylor, Nicholas Collier, Soeli Parry, and Gary Wood have left the company.

Florence Andrews has joined company in the ensemble and as an understudy for Glinda and Nessarose.

Jason Winter has joined the company in the ensemble and as an understudy for Fiyero.

Marc McBride has joined the company in the ensemble and as an understudy for Boq.

William Bozier, Phillip Catchpole, Aisling Duffy, Stacey McGuire, and Tom Muggeridge have joined the company in the ensemble.

Lauren Brooke and Justin Thomas have joined the company as swings.

Gemma Atkins is no longer an understudy for Elphaba. Ms. Atkins still covers the role of Nessarose.

Kerry Ellis (former Elphaba – West End, Broadway; former s/b Elphaba – West End), Amanda Harrison (former Elphaba – Melbourne, Sydney), Rachel Tucker (Elphaba – West End), Patrice Tipoki (Elphaba – Sydney; former s/b Elphaba – Sydney; former ensemble, u/s Elphaba – Melbourne), Marcie Dodd (former Elphaba – 2NT, Broadway; Elphaba s/b – Los Angeles; principal Nessarose & Elphaba u/s – Los Angeles; Elphaba u/s & Nessraose u/s – 1NT), Jennifer DiNoia (former s/b Elphaba – Broadway; former Elphaba s/b – Sydney, former Elphaba s/b Chicago, former swing, Elphaba u/s, Nessarose u/s – Chicago), and Willemijn Verkaik (Elphaba – Holland; former Elphaba – Stuttgart, Oberhausen) were all in the musical “We Will Rock You.”

In the first season of the television series SMASH, Norbert Leo Butz (Fiyero – Original Broadway Cast) made a cameo appearance. Additionally, his wife, Michelle Federer (Nessarose – Original Broadway Cast) made several guest appearances on the show. Annaleigh Ashford  (former Glinda – Chicago, Broadway; former ensemble, u/s Glinda – 1NT) guest-starred in one episode. Manuel Herrera (Chistery – Original Broadway Cast; former ensemble – Broadway) and Katie Webber (former ensemble, u/s Nessarose – Broadway) appearance as dancers in several episodes.  Megan Hilty (former Glinda – Los Angeles, 1NT, Broadway; former s/b Glinda – Broadway) had one of the starring roles and Phillip Spaeth (former Asst. Dance Captain, swing u/s Chistery – Los Angeles; former swing, u/s Chistery – San Francisco) had a recurring role.

Timothy Britten Parker (former Doctor Dillamond – 1NT, Chicago, Los Angeles, Broadway) is the older brother of Sarah Jessica Parker, of “Sex and the City” fame.

Mark Evans (current Fiyero – West End; former ensemble, u/s Fiyero – West End) is best known in the UK for being a finalist in the reality tv show “Eurovision – Your Country Needs You” in 2009, a competition to find the UK’s act for the Eurovision Song Contest.

Kerry Ellis (former Elphaba – West End, Broadway; former s/b Elphaba – West End) was a mentor for Rachel Tucker (current Elphaba – West End) and the other prospective Nancys in the 2008 Andrew Lloyd Webber reality tv show “I’d Do Anything”, in an episode where the competitors had to perform “I’m Not That Girl” in the Apollo Victoria Theatre. Ironically, whilst Tucker later went on to perform the role of Elphaba, Ellis replaced Jodie Prenger, the winner of the series, as Nancy in Webber’s “Oliver!” revival!

- Nikki Davis-Jones (s/b Elphaba – West End) was in the ensemble of the movie production of “Mamma Mia!”.

- Rachel Tucker (Elphaba – West End) and Louise Dearman (Glinda – West End) performed a duet of a spoof on “Defying Gravity” at Jest End together, a West End version of “Forbidden Broadway”.

- Both Joel Grey (former Wizard – Original Broadway cast) and Colin Donnell (former Fiyero – 2NT) have leading roles in the current Broadway production of “Anything Goes”. Additionally, Clyde Alves (former swing, u/s Boq, Chistery – Broadway) is in the ensemble of the show.

Wicked Nominated at the BroadwayWorld UK Awards

Congratulations to the London production of Wicked, who have been nominated for ‘Best Long Running West End Show’ in the the first annual BroadwayWorld UK Awards! Several of the current cast have also been nominated for their performances in the show; both Rachel Tucker (Elphaba) and Louise Dearman (Glinda) have been nominated for ‘Best Leading Actress in a Musical’, and Lee Mead (Fiyero) has been nominated for ‘Best Leading Actor in a Musical’. Clive Carter (The Wizard) has been nominated for ‘Best Featured Actor in a Musical’.

A number of Wicked alumni have also been nominated for their performances in other shows. Dianne Pilkington (former Glinda – West End; former standby Glinda – West End) has been nominated for ‘Best Leading Actress in a Play’ for her performance as Annabella Schmidt/Pamela/Margaret in ‘The 39 Steps’; Kerry Ellis (former Elphaba – West End, Broadway; former standby Elphaba – West End) has been nominated for ‘Best Leading Actress in a Musical’ for her performance as Nancy in ‘Oliver!’; Katie Rowley Jones (former Nessarose – West End) has been nominated for ‘Best Featured Actress in a Musical’ for her performance as Sister Mary Robert in ‘Sister Act’, up against Caissie Levy (former Elphaba – Los Angeles; former standby Elphaba – Los Angeles; former ensemble, u/s Elphaba – Broadway) in the same category for her performance as Sheila in ‘Hair’; and Shoshana Bean (former Elphaba – Broadway, First National Tour; former standby Elphaba – Broadway) has been nominated for ‘Theatrical Event of the Year’ for her concert ‘Shoshana Bean – Live In The West End’ last month.
