Katie Rose Clarke (former Glinda – 1st Ntl. Tour, Broadway) and Mariand Torres (former s/b Elphaba – 1st Ntl. Tour) will perform in the upcoming lab presentation of the new musical BEYOND THE MUSIC. BEYOND THE MUSIC features a book and direction by Andy Sandberg, a score by Cilff Downs and Katie Kahanovitz. BEYOND THE MUSIC will be presented January 28-29, 2013.

Skybell, Medeiros & Torres Set For ELLA MINNOW PEA Workshop

Steven Skybell (former Dr. Dillamond – 1st Ntl. Tour, San Francisco, Broadway, Chicago), Joseph Medeiros (former ensemble, u/s Boq – Broadway), and Mariand Torres (former s/b Elphaba – 1st Ntl. Tour) will perform in a private workshop performance of ELLA MINNOW PEA, a musical fantasy about disintegrating language on an island. This musical is written by Scott Burkell and Paul Loesel (original pianist for WICKED), with Dominick Amendum (former music director/conductor/associate music supervisor for WICKED) as the music director and Matthew Doebler (former rehearsal pianist for WICKED) as the associate music director. Performances will be from October 25-October 26, following rehearsals in a developmental lab. ELLA MINNOW PEA is produced by Breaking Bread Theatre and Third Coast Creative.

Clarke, Torres to Participate in BEYOND THE MUSIC Readings

Katie Rose Clarke (former Glinda – Broadway, 1st Nat’l Tour) and Mariand Torres (former s/b Elphaba – 1st Nat’l Tour) will be taking part in BEYOND THE MUSIC readings on September 10-11, 2012. BEYOND THE MUSIC is a new musical with a book by Andy Sandberg and music by Cliff Downs and Katie Kahanovitz.The readings are invitation only.

As per the Broadway World Article, “Beyond the Music follows the journey of Casey, a fast-rising singer/songwriter, as she strives to make her way in the music business. Sacrificing her personal life for her career, Casey is finally making the right connections and paving her way to the top. Mariand Torres to to perform in new musical “Marry Harry”

Mariand Torres (former s/b Elphaba – 1st Ntl. Tour) will be performing in a new musical called “Marry Harry” at the Amas Musical Theatre in New York from April 26-April 28, 2012. This musical features  a book by Jennifer Robbins, music by Dan Martin, lyrics by Michael Biello and direction by Kent Nicholson.

The performances are scheduled for April 26 at 4 PM, April 27 at 3 PM and 7:30 PM and April 28 at 1 PM.

Cast Update: 1st National Tour

Carla Stickler (former ensemble, u/s Elphaba, Nessarose – 1st Ntl. Tour) has replaced Mariand Torres as the standby for Elphaba. Ms. Stickler will also continue to understudy the role of Nessarose. Ms. Torres was with the show from May 2010 until January 2012.

Natalie Daradich (former Glinda -2nd Ntl. Tour; former s/b Glinda – San Francisco, Los Angeles; former swing, ensemble, u/s Nessarose – Los Angeles) has joined the company as the standby for Glinda.

Lesley McKinnell (former ensemble, u/s Glinda, Nessarose – 2nd Ntl. Tour; former swing, u/s Nessarose – 1st Ntl. Tour) has replaced Megan Campanile in the ensemble and as an understudy for Glinda.

Ashley Dawn Mortensen has joined the company in the ensemble and as an understudy for Elphaba, replacing Carla Stickler.

We have just learned that Carla Stickler (ensemble, u/s Elphaba, Nessarose – 1st Ntl. Tour) will be replacing Mariand Torres (s/b Elphaba – 1st Ntl. Tour) as the standby for Elphaba on February 2m 2012. Ms. Torres’s last day as the standby will be Sunday, January 29, 2012.
