Burns, Silverman & Wicks Set for FRANK & FRIENDS Concert

Jackie Burns
Jackie Burns (former Elphaba – Broadway, 1st Ntl. Tour), Ryan Silverman (former ensemble, u/s Fiyero – Chicago) and Teal Wicks (former Elphaba – Broadway, San Francisco, Los Angeles; former s/b Elphaba) will perform in FRANK & FRIENDS, a concert featuring the music of composer Frank Wildhorn. This concert will be at Birdland on June 17. Show time is 7 PM, with doors opening at 6 PM. All profits will go to The Actors Fund, a nationwide human services organization that helps all professionals in the performing arts and entertainment. Mr. Wildhorn will play piano for this concert. Tickets are $35.

Willemijn Verkaik has replaced Jackie Burns as Elphaba.
James Brown III has replaced Jonathan McGill in the ensemble.
1st National Tour
Laurel Harris has replaced Carla Stickler as the standby for Elphaba. As previously announced, Courtney Iventosch will be taking over Ms. Stickler’s position as an understudy for Nessarose.
West End
Melissa Jacques has replaced Tania Mathurin as the Midwife and understudy for Madame Morrible.
2nd National Tour
Lilli Cooper has replaced Anna Eilinsfeld in the ensemble and as an understudy for Elphaba. As previously announced, Jillian Kates will be taking over Ms. Eilinsfeld’s position as an understudy for Nessarose.
Willemijn Verkaik to Portray Elphaba on Broadway

Actress Willemijn Verkaik (former Elphaba – Holland, Oberhausen, Stuttgart) will be taking over the role of Elphaba on Broadway on February 12, 2012. She takes over from actress Jackie Burns (Elphaba – Broadway; former Elphaba – 1st Ntl. Tour), who will have portrayed the role for nearly a year and a half on Broadway, the longest run of any one actress as Elphaba on Broadway. This will mark Ms. Verkaik’s third language in which to perform the show, having previously performed it in both German and Dutch.

Five WICKED Performers Set For BROADWAY BARKS

Five current and past performers in WICKED will take part in BROADWAY BARKS, which is “a star-studded dog and cat adoption event benefiting New York City animal shelters and adoption agencies”. The event takes place on July 14, 2012 in Shubert Alley in New York City, New York, beginning at 3:30pm. Celebrity presentations of pets from aniaml shelters begin at 5pm. The WICKED performers taking part are:

Idina Menzel (original Elphaba – Pre-Broadway, Broadway, West End) went to high school with her former Rent costar Adam Pascal.
At 4’11″, Kristin Chenoweth (original Glinda – Pre-Broadway, Broadway) is the shortest actress to have played Glinda.
