Congratulations to Stephanie J. Block (former Elphaba – Broadway, 1st National Tour; former ensemble, u/s Elphaba – Pre-Broadway) and Annaleigh Ashford (former Glinda – Chicago, Broadway; former ensemble, u/s Glinda – 1st Ntl. Tour), both of whom were nominated this morning for Tony Awards!

Ms. Block has been nominated for a Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical for her performance in THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD as Miss Alice Nutting/Edwin Drood/Dick Datchery.

Ms. Ashford has been nominated for a Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical for her performance in KINKY BOOTS as Lauren.

Six WICKED performers have been nominated for 2013 Drama Desk Awards.

Julia Murney (former Elphaba – Broadway, 1st Ntl. Tour) has been nominated for Outstanding Actress in a Play, for her performance in FALLING. Ryan Silverman (former ensemble, u/s Fiyero – Chicago) has been nominated for Outstanding Actor in a musical, for his performance in PASSION. Stephanie J. Block (former Elphaba – Broadway, 1st Ntl. Tour; former ensemble, u/s Elphaba – Pre-Broadway) and Lindsay Mendez (upcoming Elphaba – Broadway) have both been nominated for Outstanding Actress in a Musical for their performances in THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD and DOGFIGHT, respectively. Andy Karl (former Fiyero – Broadway) has been nominated for Outstanding Featured Actor in a musical, for his performance in THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD. Annaleigh Ashford (former Glinda – Chicago, Broadway; former ensemble, u/s Glinda – 1st Ntl. Tour) has been nominated for Outstanding Featured Actress in a Musical, for her performance in KINKY BOOTS.

Jayne Houdyshell (former Madame Morrible – 1st Ntl. Tour, Broadway) has received a Special Award “for her artistry as an exceptionally versatile and distinctive Broadway and Off-Broadway performer.”

The 58th Annual Drama Desk Awards will take place on May 19 at Town Hall.

Mr. Karl has been nominated alongside Jessie Mueller in the category of Favorite Onstage Pair for their performances in THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD. Ms. Verkaik has been nominated for Favorite Replacement for her performance in WICKED.

The Outer Critics Circle Awards recognize work in and on both Broadway and Off-Broadway productions. All winners will be announced on Monday, May 13, with an awards ceremony being held on Thursday, May 23, at Sardi’s restaurant in NYC.

Rob Mills (former Fiyero – Sydney, Melbourne) was the fifth-place finalist on season one of the television series Australian Idol, which is modeled after the British series Pop Idol. (American Idol is also based on Pop Idol.)

Kristen Faith Oei (former swing, Dance Captain, u/s Witch’s Mother & Midwife – San Francesco; former swing, Asst. Dance Captain, u/s Witch’s Mother & Midwife – Los Angeles, 1st Ntl. Tour), Laura Bell Bundy (s/b Glinda – Original Broadway Cast),  Gaelen Gilliland (former ensemble, u/s Madame Morrible – Broadway), Manuel Herrera (Chistery – Original Broadway Cast; former ensemble – Broadway) and Andy Karl (former Fiyero – Broadway production), were in the original Broadway cast of LEGALLY BLONDE. The 2007 MTV airing of the show consisted mostly of the people from the Original Broadway Cast; however, Asmeret Ghebremichael (former ensemble – Broadway) performed the role of Pilar.

Nine former and current cast members of “Wicked” have been cast in the upcoming Broadway musical, KINKY BOOTS. The musical is based on the 2005 British film of the same name and is about a shoemaker in trouble and a drag queen who saves his family business. The production will debut in Chicago in October and premiere on Broadway in 2013. The musical features a score by Cyndi Lauper, a book by Harvey Fierstein, and is directed and choreographed by Jerry Mitchell.

The “Wicked” alumni featured are: Annaleigh Ashford (former Glinda – Chicago, Broadway; former ensemble, u/s Glinda – 1st Ntl. Tour), Charlie Sutton (former swing, u/s Chistery – Broadway), Andy Kelso (Fiyero – 1st Ntl. Tour), Tory Ross (former Midwife, u/s Morrible – 2nd Ntl. Tour), Adinah Alexander (former Midwife, u/s Morrible – Broadway), Caroline Bowman (ensemble, u/s Elphaba – Broadway), Nathan Peck (ensemble – Broadway; former ensemble – 2nd Ntl. KINKY BOOTS will play at the Bank of America Theatre in Chicago from October 4, 2012-November 2, 2012.
