Six WICKED performers have been nominated for 2013 Drama Desk Awards.
Julia Murney (former Elphaba – Broadway, 1st Ntl. Tour) has been nominated for Outstanding Actress in a Play, for her performance in FALLING. Ryan Silverman (former ensemble, u/s Fiyero – Chicago) has been nominated for Outstanding Actor in a musical, for his performance in PASSION. Stephanie J. Block (former Elphaba – Broadway, 1st Ntl. Tour; former ensemble, u/s Elphaba – Pre-Broadway) and Lindsay Mendez (upcoming Elphaba – Broadway) have both been nominated for Outstanding Actress in a Musical for their performances in THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD and DOGFIGHT, respectively. Andy Karl (former Fiyero – Broadway) has been nominated for Outstanding Featured Actor in a musical, for his performance in THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD. Annaleigh Ashford (former Glinda – Chicago, Broadway; former ensemble, u/s Glinda – 1st Ntl. Tour) has been nominated for Outstanding Featured Actress in a Musical, for her performance in KINKY BOOTS.
Jayne Houdyshell (former Madame Morrible – 1st Ntl. Tour, Broadway) has received a Special Award “for her artistry as an exceptionally versatile and distinctive Broadway and Off-Broadway performer.”
The 58th Annual Drama Desk Awards will take place on May 19 at Town Hall.

Ms. Block has been nominated in the categories of Favorite Actress in a Musical and Favorite Diva Performance for her performance in THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD. Mr. Butz has been nominated for Favorite Actor in a Play for his performance in DEAD ACCOUNTS. Mr. Karl has been nominated alongside Jessie Mueller in the category of Favorite Onstage Pair for their performances in THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD. Ms. Verkaik has been nominated for Favorite Replacement for her performance in WICKED.

Deedee Magno Hall (former Nessarose – San Fransisco, 1st Ntl. Tour) can be heard singing as Princess Jasmine on the Original Disneyland Cast Album of ALADDIN: A MUSICAL SPECTACULAR. ALADDIN: A MUSICAL SPECTACULAR is a 45-minute stage show based on the 1991 Disney film Aladdin.
George Hearn (former Wizard – Broadway) played Grandpa in the film Barney’s Great Adventure, which is based on the children’s television show Barney & Friends. Mr. Hearn also sang in the film.
Andy Karl (former Fiyero – Broadway) played the lead role of Rocky Balboa in a 2011 reading of ROCKY – THE MUSICAL.

Tour; former ensemble, u/s Elphaba – Pre-Broadway), Andy Karl (former Fiyero – Broadway), and Kate Reinders (former Glinda – Broadway, Chicago) will be featured on the new CD from the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop, “No More Revivals: Volume 1.”A release date has not yet been announced. Ms. Block will sing “My Sky” by Adam Overett, Mr. Karl will sing “Women Leave” from CHINA DOLL OVERDRIVE (music by Linda Dowdell, lyrics by Sara Wordsworth) with Malcolm Gets, and Ms. Reinders will sing “Evermore” by Rob Barnett and Greg Edwards, with Adam Chanler-Berat.

Caissie Levy (former Elphaba, s/b Elphaba – Los Angeles; former ensemble, u/s Elphaba – Broadway) performed as Sheila at her summer camp in a Hebrew production of HAIR. She later went on to play the same role in the 2009 Broadway revival.
Annaleigh Ashford (former Glinda – Chicago, Broadway; former ensemble, u/s Glinda – 1st Ntl. Tour), Richard H. Blake (Fiyero – Broadway; former Fiyero – 1st Natl. Tour), Laura Bell Bundy (s/b Glinda – Original Broadway Cast), Gaelen Gilliland (former ensemble, u/s Madame Morrible – Broadway), Manuel Herrera (Chistery – Original Broadway Cast; former ensemble – Broadway) and Andy Karl (former Fiyero – Broadway production), were in the original Broadway cast of LEGALLY BLONDE. The 2007 MTV airing of the show consisted mostly of the people from the Original Broadway Cast; however, Asmeret Ghebremichael (former ensemble – Broadway) performed the role of Pilar.
Block & Karl Cast In THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD

Stephanie J. Block (former Elphaba – Broadway, 1st Ntl. Tour; former ensemble, Elphaba u/s – Pre-Broadway) and Andy Karl (former Fiyero – Broadway) have been cast in Roundabout Theatre Company’s upcoming Broadway production of THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD. Block will play the title role of Drood and Karl will play Neville Landless.
The production will begin preview performances on October 19, 2012 and opening night is scheduled for November 29, 2012 at Studio 54. The production will be directed by Scott Ellis, with choreography by Warren Carlyle, and music direction by Paul Gemignani.
THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD features music, lyrics, and a book by Rupert Holmes and is based on Charles Dickens’ novel of the same name. The musical won the 1986 Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Book, and Best Score.
Single tickets for THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD will go on sale on July 9, 2012.

Tour, Broadway; former s/b Glinda – Broadway) appears as Ivy Lynn, and Annaleigh Ashford (former Glinda – Broadway, Chicago; former ensemble & u/s Glinda – 1st Ntl. Tour) appears as Lisa.
Megan Hilty (former Glinda – Los Angeles, 1st Ntl. Tour, Broadway; former s/b Glinda – Broadway) and Eden Espinosa (former Elphaba – San Francisco, Los Angeles, Broadway; former s/b Elphaba, u/s Nessarose – Broadway) performed a spoof on “The Wizard and I” called “Wicked on Ice” at the 2006 Easter Bonnet.

0Kyle McDaniel (former ensemble, u/s Fiyero – San Francisco, Los Angeles, 1st Ntl. Tour) has replaced Andy Karl as Fiyero.
Aaron J. Alabano (former ensemble, u/s Boq – 1st Ntl. Tour) has replaced Adam Fleming in the ensemble and as an understudy for Boq.
Teal Wicks & Kyle Dean Massey to Join Broadway Cast of “Wicked”
4Congratulations to Teal Wicks (former Elphaba – San Francisco, Los Angeles; former s/b Elphaba – Los Angeles) who will be replacing Mandy Gonzalez (current Elphaba – Broadway) as Elphaba on February 1, 2011. Ms. Gonzalez will have been in the role for approximately 10 months, beginning on March 20, 2010.
Also of note is the fact that Kyle Dean Massey (former ensemble, u/s Fiyero – Broadway, 1NT) will be joining the cast in the role of Fiyero, replacing Andy Karl (current Fiyero – Broadway) on January 25, 2011. Mr. Karl will have been playing Fiyero for approximately one year. Congratulations, Teal and Kyle!
CORRECTION: We have been informed that Andy Karl will actually be leaving on January 2, to be replaced by Kyle McDaniel (former ensemble, u/s Fiyero – San Francisco, Los Angeles, 1st National Tour) until Kyle Dean Massey begins on the 25th.
