Kara Lindsay will return to the role of Glinda in the Broadway company of WICKED beginning Tuesday, November 1. Previously, Ms. Lindsay performed the role of Glinda on Broadway and the 2nd National Tour. She takes over the role from Carrie St. Louis. As previously announced, Sheryl Lee Ralph will take on the role of Madame Morrible, also on November 1. They will be joining a cast that includes Jennifer DiNoia as Elphaba, Michael Campayno as Fiyero, Peter Scolari as The Wizard, Dawn E. Cantwell as Nessarose, Zachary Noah Piser as Boq, and Michael Genet as Dr. Dillamond.

Full casting has been announced for Broadway Sings Beyonce, the 13th installment of the Broadway Sings Series. Performers for the night include Alyssa Fox (Elphaba s/b – Broadway; former Elphaba – 2nd National tour; former Elphaba s/b – 2nd Natl. Tour; former ensemble, u/s Elphaba – San Francisco), Elphaba s/b – 2nd Natl. Tour; former ensemble, u/s Elphaba – San Francisco), Lilli Cooper (former s/b Elphaba – 2nd Natl. Tour, Australasian Tour, Broadway; former ensemble, u/s Elphaba – 2nd Natl. Tour), Corey Mach (former ensemble, u/s Fiyero – 1st Natl. Tour), Natalie Weiss (former ensemble, u/s Elphaba – 2nd Natl. Tour), Alexa Green (former ensemble, u/s Glinda – San Francisco, Los Angeles), and Libby Servais (former swing, u/s Glinda, u/s Midwife – Broadway; former s/b Glinda – San Francisco; former ensemble, u/s Glinda – 2nd Natl. Tour).

The concert, which will celebrate the music of Grammy winner Beyonce, is scheduled for November 7 and is set to include some of her biggest chart toppers, including “Halo”, “Single Ladies”, “Love on Top”, and “Irreplaceable” as well as from Destiny’s Child. The music will be orchestrated and arranged by Joshua Stephen Kartes. Broadway Sings Beyonce will be produced and directed by Corey Mach.

Broadway Company of WICKED to Welcome New Madame Morrible

The Broadway Company of WICKED will welcome Sheryl Lee Ralph in the role of Madame Morrible on November 1. Current Madame Morrible, Judy Kaye, will take her final bow on October 30. Ms. Ralph is best known for her Tony nominated performance in DREAMGIRLS. She also originated the role of Muzzy Van Hossmere in THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE. She’s also been seen on television in “Moesha”, “Ray Donovan”, and “Instant Mom”.

Ms. Ralph joins a cast that includes Jennifer DiNoia as Elphaba, Carrie St. Louis as Glinda, Peter Scolari as The Wizard, Michael Campayno as Fiyero, Dawn E. Cantwell as Nessarose, Michael Genet as Dr. Dillamond, and Zachary Noah Piser as Boq.

Parris to Succeed Lewis in CATS

Broadway veteran Mamie Parris (former Elphaba – 1st Natl. Tour) will succeed pop star Leona Lewis in the part of Grizabella in the revival of CATS. Ms. Parris is currently starring as Patty in SCHOOL OF ROCK, a role she created.

CATS is composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber. It originally ran for 7,485 performances. The creative team for the new production includes scenic and costume design by John Napier, lighting design by Natasha Katz, sound design by Mick Potter, with choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler, based on the original choreography by Gillian Lynne. The director is Trevor Nunn.

Ms. Lewis will complete her three month run on October 9. A date for Ms. Parris’ debut has not been set.

Tour) has been cast in the upcoming tour of FINDING NEVERLAND. The Broadway musical FINDING NEVERLAND is based on the 2004 Academy Award winning movie of the same name by David Magee and the play “The Man Who Was Peter Pan” by Allan Knee. It follows the story of J.M. Barrie and the family who inspired Peter Pan. This Tony Award winning musical is set to begin touring the country on October 7 in Buffalo, NY.

Kristin Chenoweth (original Glinda – Broadway, Pre-Broadway) will return to Broadway this fall in MY LETTER TO BROADWAY. Ms. Chenoweth will perform a hand-picked selection of theatre favorites, including songs from her upcoming album The Art of Elegance. This limited engagement is presented by James L. Nederlander with music direction by Mary-Mitchell Campbell and costume design by Christian Siriano.

Signature Theatre has announced the full cast for the world premier of Disney’s FREAKY FRIDAY. Emma Hunton (former Elphaba – 1st Natl. Tour) will star as Ellie Blake.

Developed by  Disney Theatrical Productions expressly for licensing to theatres, FREAKY FRIDAY features a book by Bridget Carpenter, music by Tom Kitt and lyrics by Brian Yorky. It will be directed by Christopher Ashley with choreography by Sergio Trujillo. FREAKY FRIDAY will run from October 4 – November 20 in Signature Theatre’s MAX Theatre.
