Suzie Mathers and Jemma Rix, who will star in "Wicked" in Seoul

Check out this article about the upcoming engagement of the Asian Touring Company of “Wicked” in Seoul, South Korea! “Wicked” to turn Seoul green from May

On the January 1, 2012 episode of “Cupcake Wars”, participants will battle for a place at a special party for the 1st National Touring “Wicked” company in Los Angeles.

The 2nd National Touring Cast of “Wicked” will be hosting a cabaret called “Wickedly GenerouSways” at the SWAY Night Club in Little Rock, Arkansas to benefit the Arkansas AIDS Foundation. The event will be held this Monday, November 8, 2010 at 7:00 PM. The event will also include a live auction. There will be complimentary cocktails at 6:00 PM, the cabaret will be at 7:00 PM, and there will be a party with the cast from 9:00 to 11:00 PM. Tickets are $40 and can be purchased through araidsfoundation.com.

The 2nd National Tour of “Wicked” is offering a “Wicked” experience package for auction in support of the wonderful charity Broadway Cares/Equity Fights. What does this package entail? The winner of the auction and a friend will recieve a pre-show guided tour backstage and be allowed to see Elphaba painted green. After the transformation is complete, they will get to snap a picture with Elphaba and perhaps even receive some other fun “Wicked” treats. Congratulations to the London production of Wicked, who have been nominated for ‘Best Long Running West End Show’ in the the first annual BroadwayWorld UK Awards! Several of the current cast have also been nominated for their performances in the show; both Rachel Tucker (Elphaba) and Louise Dearman (Glinda) have been nominated for ‘Best Leading Actress in a Musical’, and Lee Mead (Fiyero) has been nominated for ‘Best Leading Actor in a Musical’. Clive Carter (The Wizard) has been nominated for ‘Best Featured Actor in a Musical’.

A number of Wicked alumni have also been nominated for their performances in other shows. Dianne Pilkington (former Glinda – West End; former standby Glinda – West End) has been nominated for ‘Best Leading Actress in a Play’ for her performance as Annabella Schmidt/Pamela/Margaret in ‘The 39 Steps’; Kerry Ellis (former Elphaba – West End, Broadway; former standby Elphaba – West End) has been nominated for ‘Best Leading Actress in a Musical’ for her performance as Nancy in ‘Oliver!’; Katie Rowley Jones (former Nessarose – West End) has been nominated for ‘Best Featured Actress in a Musical’ for her performance as Sister Mary Robert in ‘Sister Act’, up against Caissie Levy (former Elphaba – Los Angeles; former standby Elphaba – Los Angeles; former ensemble, u/s Elphaba – Broadway) in the same category for her performance as Sheila in ‘Hair’; and Shoshana Bean (former Elphaba – Broadway, First National Tour; former standby Elphaba – Broadway) has been nominated for ‘Theatrical Event of the Year’ for her concert ‘Shoshana Bean – Live In The West End’ last month.

According to the official “Wicked” in Australia twitter, the Sydney production of the show will close on September 12, 2010, after playing for just over a year. It is unknown whether or not the production will transfer or tour. The cast currently stars Jemma Rix and Patrice Tipoki sharing the role of Elphaba and Lucy Durack as Glinda, who has played the role since the opening in Melbourne in July 2008.

As we have previously reported, the production of “Wicked” in San Francisco is now officially set to close on September 5, 2010. Source

Congratulations to the Broadway production of “Wicked” for being recognized for their efforts in protecting the environment on “The Green Apple”. The segment will be aired tonight at 9:00 PM on NYC Life (Channel 25 in NYC).

Below are two articles about the first national tour of “Wicked” losing power due to a fire in New Orleans at an abandoned hotel. I was actually at the show when this happened – in the scene after “Wonderful”, there was a bang and the entire theatre blacked out. It was hot, crazy, and boring – but then Donna Vivino & Chandra Lee Schwartz came out, along with an upright piano, and performed “For Good” with stagehands holding up flashlights to illuminate them – it was handled very well, and most patrons were not overly upset about the situation. In addition to this, Donna Vivino came out the stagedoor still green – it was quite funny.

According to a reliable source (who heard directly from David Stone), the San Francisco Production of “Wicked” will be closing on September 5, 2010. We will let you know when we get a press release, but this seems rather official.
