Block, Grey & Wicks Set For Marvin Hamlisch Celebration

Stephanie J. Block (former Elphaba – Broadway, 1st Ntl. Tour; former ensemble, u/s Elphaba – Pre-Broadway), Joel Grey (The Wizard – Original Broadway Cast), and Teal Wicks (former Elphaba – Broadway, San Francisco, Los Angeles; former s/b Elphaba) are among the artists taking part in the American Cancer Society’s concert, ONE CENTENNIAL SENSATION, which will celebrate the birthday of the late Marvin Hamlisch. The event takes palce June 3, 2013 at the Hudson Theatre at the Millennium Broadway Hotel 145 West 44th Street in New York City. Cocktails began at 6:00 pm and dinner at 6:45. Kristoffer Cusick (former Fiyero – Chicago, Los Angeles; former t/r Fiyero – Broadway; former ensemble, u/s Fiyero – Broadway, Pre-Broadway), Kate Loprest (former ensemble, u/s Glinda, u/s Nessarose – Chicago) and Vicki Noon (former ensemble, u/s Elphaba – Broadway, Chicago; former Elphaba – 2nd Ntl. Tour; former s/b Elphaba – San Francisco, Los Angeles) have been cast in the upcoming Broadway musical comedy, FIRST DATE. This production will begin previews at the Longacre Theatre on July 9, with an opening night set for August 4. This musical received a world premiere at Seattle’s ACT – A Contemporary Theatre last year, which featured Ms. Noon.

Dromard, Manolakos, Matlock & Servais Set For Transcendence Theater Season

Carrie Manolakos (former s/b Elphaba – San Francisco, 2nd Ntl. Tour), Nicolas Dromard (former Fiyero – San Francisco; former ensemble, u/s Fiyero – 1st Ntl. Tour)), Victoria Matlock (former Elphaba, s/b Elphaba – 1st Ntl. Tour) and Libby Servais (former swing, u/s Glinda, u/s Midwife – Broadway; former s/b Glinda – San Francisco; former ensemble, u/s Glinda – 2nd Ntl. Tour) will all take part in Transcendence Theatre Company’s BROADWAY UNDER THE STARS concert series. All concerts take place at Jack London State Park in Glen Ellen, California.
Ms. Manolakos will take part in the “Fly Me To The Moon” concert which runs June 28-30 & July 5-6 at 7:30pm.
Mr. Dromard will take part in the “Dancing Through Life” concert which runs August 9-10 & August 15-17 at 7:30pm.
Ms. Matlock and Ms. Servias will take part in the “Gala Celebration” which run August 30-31 at 7:30pm.

Burns, Silverman & Wicks Set for FRANK & FRIENDS Concert
0Jackie Burns (former Elphaba – Broadway, 1st Ntl. Tour), Ryan Silverman (former ensemble, u/s Fiyero – Chicago) and Teal Wicks (former Elphaba – Broadway, San Francisco, Los Angeles; former s/b Elphaba) will perform in FRANK & FRIENDS, a concert featuring the music of composer Frank Wildhorn. This concert will be at Birdland on June 17. Show time is 7 PM, with doors opening at 6 PM. All profits will go to The Actors Fund, a nationwide human services organization that helps all professionals in the performing arts and entertainment. Mr. Wildhorn will play piano for this concert. Tickets are $35.

Fellner & Ford Set for 22@54 Concert
0Jenny Fellner (former Nessarose – 2nd Ntl. Tour, Broadway) and Sara Jean Ford (former ensemble, u/s Glinda, u/s Nessarose – Chicago) will perform in 22@54, a concert featuring original songs by emerging writers from NYU’s Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program’s class cycle 22, May 22 at 54 Below. Lisa Brescia Set for Staged Reading of LORD TOM

Lisa Brescia (former Elphaba – Broadway; former s/b Elphaba – Broadway) will perform in the upcoming staged readings of LORD TOM, which is billed as a “new American musical.” The readings will be presented May 20 at 4 PM and May 21 at 11 AM at the Peter Jay Sharp Theatre in Manhattan.
In LORD TOM, “16 characters navigate the musical text through 26 original songs,” according to press notes. The score includes chant hymnal, spiritual, blues, gospel, jazz, ragtime, country, dramatic and contemporary ballad. This musical is inspired by Harriet Beecher Stowe’s novel, “Uncle Tom’s Cabin.”
Shoshana Bean Will Present at the Jerry Herman Awards

Tour, Broadway; former s/b Elphaba, u/s Nessarose – Broadway) will be a presenter at the second annual Jerry Herman Awards, celebrating achievement in high school musical theatre in Los Angeles, May 19 at Hollywood’s Pantages Theatre. The ceremony is set for 7 PM and will include presenters from Broadway, film and television. The Jerry Herman Awards is the local award ceremony for The National High School Musical Theatre Awards, also known as “The Jimmy’s”, which takes place annually at Broadway’s Minskoff Theatre.
