Complete casting has been announced for the upcoming Australian premiere of DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS, which will open at Sydney’s Theatre Royal October 24. As previously announced (Anne Wood Cast in Australian Premiere of DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS), Anne Wood (former Madame Morrible – Asian Tour) will play the role of Muriel Eubanks.
The company will also feature Rodney Dobson (former Dr. Dillamond, u/s Wizard – Australian Tour, Sydney, Melbourne; former t/r Wizard – Australian Tour, Melbourne), Matthew Hamilton (former swing, u/s Fiyero, u/s Dr. Dillamond, u/s Witch’s Father – Sydney, Australian Tour; former swing, u/s Dr. Dillamond, u/s Witch’s Father – Melbourne), Zoe Jarrett (former alternate Elphaba – Asian Tour; former ensemble, u/s Elphaba, u/s Madame Morrible – Australian Tour, Sydney, Melbourne) and Stephanie Morrison (former ensemble, u/s Glinda, u/s Nessarose – Asian Tour).
Based on the 1988 film “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels,” the musical focuses on two con men living in the French Riviera, who become involved in a series of schemes to swindle wealthy women out of their riches.
Fun Fact: The original production of DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS starred Norbert Leo Butz (original Fiyero – Broadway, Pre-Broadway) as Freddy Benson, who went on to win a Tony for the role.
