Fan Interview: Louie

Today, we have a fan interview from Louie, a New York based fan of the show who has seen “Wicked” twelve times. Enjoy the interview!

Who is your favorite Elphaba and why?
This question is always sooo hard for me to answer, and the answer often varies depending on when you ask me. I do think however that Nicole Parker has stolen my heart for my favorite Elphaba. I witnessed her grow so much throughout the course of her run and every time I came back to see her she had grown vocally and character wise. She is also one of the nicest people alive. She had the looks, the voice, and the acting down pat.

Who is your favorite Glinda and why?
I can answer this question with a little more ease, my favorite Glinda is Alli Mauzey. Her vocal range is really unbelievable. Everything from her soprano to her lower register belt was fantastic. I loved every little thing she did with the character from her optional notes, to screaming into her pillow during Popular, to crying in For Good.

Which Elphie/Glinda pair do you think has the best chemistry?
This one for me really is a three way tie. I simply can’t choose between Julia/Kendra, Stephanie/Annaleigh, and Nicole/Alli. All three of these couples each had a certain chemistry that made the show such a refreshing experience.

What other standouts have you seen in other principal roles? What about ensemble?
I really loved Aaron Tveit as Fiyero. Rondi Reed and Carole Shelley really are perfect for Madame Morrible. Brynn O’Malley as Nessa and Alex Brightman as Boq own at life. As far as the ensemble, I usually enjoy watching Sarah Bolt because she basically is a one woman show up there.

Who are some standout understudies you have seen?
Julie Reiber was an amazing Elphaba and I was so fortunate to have seen her twice. Brad Bass was a fantastic Fiyero and Kathy Santen needs to be promoted as Morrible cause she is a pro!

Who is the nicest person you have met at the stage door?
Oh geez! Everyone I have met has been nice at the stage door, but if I had to pick only a handful I would choose Nicole Parker, Alli Mauzey, Lindsay Northen, Julie Reiber, Reed Kelly.

What was your favorite time seeing the show?
My favorite time seeing the show was on June 28th, 2009. It was the added performance for the Actor’s Fund so I don’t know if they had to be on their game or what but it was amazing. The sound was blasting which made everything sounds so clear. It was my last time seeing Nicole and Alli so it really was the perfect goodbye.

Other than Wicked, what are some of your favorite shows?
Legally Blonde, Les Miserables, RENT, and Godspell are some of my favorites.
