Remember that time when Kerry Ellis (Elphaba – West End, Broadway) was performing “Defying Gravity”, ran back to step into the lift and got her foot stuck on the floor? She had to stop the lift as it was rising, the show had to stop for ten minutes, and she then came out and proceeded to deliver an absolutely amazing “Defying Gravity”. That’s live theatre for you!

I don’t know if a clear explanation for what happened was ever given, but none of the stories I heard ever included her foot being stuck.
What did you hear? I heard that her foot was caught on the ground and the lift was going up.
The explanations I remember hearing had to do with the arms or whatever that are supposed to go around Elphaba to hold her in place. Basically Kerry got caught between them, or something else happened so they didn’t lock into place, and she stopped it because she wasn’t secure.
