Today, we are thrilled to host a fan interview from Alex Hora, a theatre major in Indiana. She has seen the show ten times between Chicago, the 2nd National Tour, and the Broadway Production. Enjoy her interview below!
Who is your favorite Elphaba and why?
My favorite Elphaba is Dee Roscioli. I have seen her 8 times altogether, 7 in Chicago and once on Broadway for her Broadway Debut. She has always been such a sweetie to me and I miss her dearly. She will always have a special place in my heart. I’m so proud of her for making it to Broadway! 🙂
Who is your favorite Glinda and why?
Haha this is a hard question for me to answer. I have seen 5 Glinda’s and my two favorites are Michelle London and Alli Mauzey. Alli Mauzey is the definition of a perfect Glinda… her voice is phenomenal and she just understands the character so well. Michelle is also an amazing Glinda with incredible vocals and heart. <3 to both of them!
Which Elphie/Glinda pair do you think has the best chemistry?
Dee and Erin all the way!!! Also, I bet Anne Brummel and Michelle London have amazing chemistry as well and that would be my dream show – to see both of them together!!!
What other standouts have you seen in other principal roles? What about ensemble?
Heidi Kettenring = BEST NESSA… Rondi Reed as Madame Morrible and Gene Weygandt as the Wizard… I have too many to choose haha. My favorite ensemble was the Wicked Chicago ensemble… such a team they were and now a lot of them went to the 2nd National Tour and they still are rocking it out around the US!!!
Who are some standout understudies you have seen?
ANNE BRUMMEL AS ELPHABA!!! 🙂 She was amazing!! She played Elphaba on the more innocent side and was fierce and strong when she needed to be. Incredible and I hope she gets standby or lead!!! Go Brummels! 🙂
Who is the nicest person you have met at the stagedoor?
Oh geez too many to choose ha… Anne Brummel, Dee Roscioli, Jenny DiNoia, Rondi Reed… just to name a few… but pretty much the ENTIRE WICKED CHICAGO CAST 🙂
What was your favorite time seeing the show?
I have two favorite times. 7-22-09 (Dee’s 3rd show on Broadway). It was so incredibly emotional. Dee gives her heart and soul into every performance she does and I admire her for that… One of the most genuine people I have ever met! Also 10-17-09… I saw Anne Brummel as Elphaba… Anne has always been an inspiration and I can’t thank her enough for all she does for me. Miss you Anne! I rarely cry at a Wicked performance but by the end of the show I was in tears. So much heart was in that performance. My favorite quote of the day: Me: “Way to make me cry Anne” Anne: “Well that was my goal and I succeeded” 🙂
Other than Wicked, what are some of your favorite shows?
HAIR, Next to Normal, 9 to 5, CATS, Mary Poppins, Legally Blonde, Addams Family, In The Heights, RENT… and many many more haha.
Which “Wicked” alumni/current cast member’s work outside of “Wicked” do you admire most?
JULIA MURNEY… enough said!!! Also Stephanie J Block!!
We thank Alex for providing this interview!
