Barrington Stage Company has announced full casting for its production of PIRATES OF PENZANCE. Kyle Dean Massey (former Fiyero – Broadway, 1st Natl. Tour; former ensemble, u/s Fiyero – Broadway, 1st Natl. Tour) will star as Frederic and David Garrison (former Wizard – San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Broadway, 1st Natl. Tour) will star as the Major General. The production is directed by John Rando, choreographed by Joshua Bergasse with scenic design by Beowulf Boritt, costume design by Jess Goldstein, wig design by Leah Loukas, lighting design by Jason Lyons, sound design by Ed Chapman, musical direction by Darren R. Cohen and fight choreography by Ryan Winkles.

Kristin Chenoweth (original Glinda – Broadway, Pre-Broadway) has been cast as Velma Von Tussle in NBC’s upcoming production of HAIRSPRAY Live. She joins the previously announced Derek Hough, Harvey Fierstein, Jennifer Hudson, Martin Short, and newcomer Maddie Baillio.
HAIRSPRAY Live will air on NBC on December 7 at 8 pm.
“Broadway Up, Guns Down is charity benefit concert in response to the tragic mass shooting that occurred at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, Florida. Broadway artists will unite to uplift through song honoring the beautiful lives lost. All funds raised will go directly to the Zebra Coalition in Orlando, FL, a LGTBQ youth based non-for-profit currently offering assistance in Orlando.” WICKED alums performing at this benefit include Christine Dwyer (former Elphaba – Broadway; former s/b Elphaba – Broadway; former Elphaba, s/b Elphaba, ensemble, u/s Elphaba – 2nd Natl. Tour), Jenni Barber (former Glinda – Broadway), Stephanie Torns (former s/b Elphaba – 2nd Natl. Tour; former ensemble, u/s Elphaba – Broadway, 1st Natl. Tour), Michael McCorry Rose (former ensemble, u/s Fiyero – Broadway; former ensemble, u/s Fiyero – 2nd Natl. Tour) and Daniel Quadrino (former ensemble, Boq u/s – Broadway).

Caroline Bowman (former Elphaba – Broadway; former ensemble, u/s Elphaba – Broadway) will make her solo debut at 54 Below on Friday, July 8. “In addition to singing hits from her career, and a few other songs from Oz, Caroline will remove the green makeup and explore a role she hasn’t yet played in New York- herself.” Nathan Brewer will direct and produce, as well as being the music director.

Caissie Levy (former Elphaba, former s/b Elphaba – Los Angeles; former ensemble, u/s Elphaba – Broadway) originated the role of Fantine in the 2014 Broadway revival of LES MISERABLES. Alison Luff (former Elphaba – 1st Natl. Tour), Hannah Shankman (former ensemble, Elphaba/Nessarose u/s – Broadway), Ashley Dawn Mortensen (former ensemble, u/s Elphaba – 1st Natl. Tour), and Desi Oakley (ensemble, Elphaba/Nessarose u/s Broadway; former Universal swing) also performed in this company.
Gregory Haney (former Chistery, ensemble – 2nd Natl. Tour, San Francisco, Chicago; former ensemble, u/s Chistery – Chicago) is currently in the ensemble of the Tony-winning musical HAMILTON.

North Carolina Theatre has announced casting for its upcoming production of Disney and Cameron Mackintosh‘s MARY POPPINS. Kara Lindsay (former Glinda – Broadway, 2nd Natl. Tour) will play the title role while Nicolas Dromard (former Fiyero – San Francisco; former ensemble, u/s Fiyero – 1st Natl. Tour) will play Bert. Lisa Brescia (former Elphaba – Chicago; former s/b Elphaba – Broadway) will take on the role of Winifred Banks and Kathy Fitzgerald (former Madame Morrible – Broadway, 2nd Natl. Tour) will play the role of Mrs. Brill/Bird Woman.

The Muny has announced full casting for their production of MAMMA MIA! Justin Guarini (former Fiyero – Broadway) will play Sam Carmichael and Julia Murney (former Elphaba – Broadway, 1st Natl. Tour) will play Donna. MAMMA MIA! is directed by Dan Knechtges, choreographed by Jessica Hartman with music directed by Michael Horsley.

Judy Kaye (Madame Morrible – Broadway) won the 1988 Tony for Featured Actress in a Musical for her work as Carlotta Guidicelli in PHANTOM OF THE OPERA. Other former WICKED cast members to have played Carlotta are Liz McCartney (former Madame Morrible – 1st Natl. Tour) and Marilyn Caskey (former Madame Morrible – 2nd Natl. Tour).
Adam Grupper (former Wizard – Broadway) is currently performing in the cast of the revival of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF.
Christopher Fitzgerald (original Boq – Broadway) was nominated for a Tony Award, an Outer Critic’s Circle Award and a Drama Desk Award for Featured Actor in a Musical for his work in FINIAN’S RAINBOW. He won the Drama Desk Award.
