Norbert Leo Butz (Original Fiyero – Broadway) is starring in the Netflix original television show “Bloodline”. He has also guest starred on “Blue Bloods”, “The Good Wife”, and “Law and Order: Criminal Intent”.

Idina Menzel (Elphaba – Original Broadway Cast, Original West End Cast), Arielle Jacobs (Nessarose – Broadway), Ioana Alfonso (ensemble – Broadway), Larkin Bogan (ensemble, Boq u/s – Broadway), Josh Daniel Green (ensemble – Broadway), Marissa Lupp (ensemble, witch’s mother/midwife u/s – Broadway; former ensemble Glinda u/s – 1st Natl. Tour), and Alex Brightman (former Boq – Broadway) all attended NYU.

Michael DeVries (former Dr. Dillamond – Broadway, 2nd Natl. Tour; former Witch’s father, Dr. Dillamond/Wizard u/s – Broadway) and Alison Fraser (former Madame Morrible – 1st Natl. Tour) were both in the original Broadway cast of THE SECRET GARDEN. Adam Grupper (former Wized – Broadway) was also in THE SECRET GARDEN.

Shingledecker Set for THE UNPREDICTABLE TIMES Reading

Matt Shingledecker (Fiyero – Broadway, former Fiyero – 2nd Natl. Tour) has been cast as Henry in the upcoming reading of Kevin Ray Johnson‘s one act play THE UNPREDICTABLE TIMES. Also in the cast are Brian Charles Johnson, Christy Wyatt, Ashley Wool, and Nick Anastasia.  It will be directed by S. Lee Lewis.  According to press notes, THE UNPREDICTABLE TIMES “surrounds five friends coming back home to Champlin Minnesota after graduating college hoping for the summer of their lives. It might be their last time all together before they go out and face the so called ‘Real World.’ During the summer they will face unresolved issues from the past and present that will question if their friendship that was developed from Childhood is worth saving now as ‘Adults.'”

Tess Soltau (Glinda s/b – Broadway), Adam Grupper (former Wizard – Broadway), and Rachel Potter (former ensemble, u/s Glinda – 2nd Natl. Tour) were all in the Broadway production of THE ADDAMS FAMILY.

Nick Adams (former Fiyero – 1st Natl. Tour) and Mary Testa (former Madame Morrible – Broadway) were both in the 2009 revival of GUYS AND DOLLS.

Caroline Bowman (Elphaba – Broadway; former ensemble, u/s Elphaba – Broadway) was Eva Perone in the 2014 tour of EVITA. Desi Oakley (ensemble, Glinda u/s, Nessarose u/s – Broadway; former Universal Swing) was also on that tour as the Eva Perone alternate.

Willemijn Verkaik (former Elphaba – Broadway, Scheveningen, Oberhausen, Stuttgart, West End) has joined the German cast of Disney’s TARZAN in the role of Kala, Tarzan’s adoptive ape mother. In a statement, Verkaik said “The role of Kala is not only a vocal and an acting challenge, but also a physical one. I will, like all other apes, literally fly above the audiences. Something like that doesn’t happen in any other musical, and that’s what makes Tarzan unique.” TARZAN features music and lyrics by Oscar winner Phil Collins with a book by David Henry Hwang.

WICKED 2nd National Tour Welcomes New Cast Members

Three new cast members will join the 2nd National Tour of WICKED when it flies into Tempe, Arizona. Jake Boyd will take over as Fiyero, replacing Ashley Parker Angel. Boyd was recently seen in the Broadway production of ROCK OF AGES. He also performed in THE LAST SMOKER and CARRIE. Wendy Worthington replaces Kristine Zbornik as Madame Morrible. Worthington’s theater credits include DIE, MOMMIE, DIE! and MAN OF LA MANCHA. She also had a recurring role on “Ally McBeal”. Stuart Zagnit will be playing the Wizard, replacing John Davidson. Zagnit’s Broadway credits include NEWSIES, HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS, and THE WILD PARTY. He is the original voice of Pokemon’s Professor Oak.

They will join the company that  features Alyssa Fox (Elphaba), Carrie St. Louis (Glinda), Liana Hunt (Nessarose), Michael DeVries (Dr. Dillamond), Lee Slobotkin (Boq) and Mary Kate Morrissey (Elphaba s/b) with Keith A. Bearden, Kerry Blanchard, Whitney Brandt, Jane Brockman, Beka Burnham, Bridie Carroll, Jordan Casanova, Kennedy Caughell, Michael Drolet, Kelli Erdmann, Ryan Patrick Farrell, Dominic Guidici, Dan Gleason, Kali Grinder, Lauren Haughton, Ryan Jackson, Kelly Lafarga, Lauren Sambataro, Wayne Schroder, Mark Shunkey, Ben Susak, Travis Taber, Jeremy Thompson, and Justin Wirick.

Garcia to Play Lead in SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN

After a sell-out West End season, SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN is set to captivate Australian audiences beginning next May at Melbourne’s Her Majesty’s Theatre, followed by a season from July at Sydney’s Lyric Theatre before touring to Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth. Casting for the  production has been announced. Adam Garcia (Fiyero – Original West End Cast) will play Don Lockwood, the role made famous by Gene Kelly in the 1952 movie of the same name. SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN is directed by Jonathan Church, choreographed by Andrew Wright, designed by Simon Higlett with Robert Scott as musical supervisor.

Gina Beck (former Glinda – West End, 1st Natl. Tour) has played  Christine in THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA.

Joel Grey (The Wizard – Original Broadway Cast) was Amos Hart in the 1996 Broadway revival of Chicago. P.J. Benjamin (former Wizard – Broadway, 1st Natl. Tour), Tom McGowan (upcoming Wizard – West End; former Wizard – Broadway, 1st Natl. Tour, San Fransisco), and Christopher Fitzgerald (original Boq – Broadway) have also played the role on Broadway.

Ana Gasteyer (former Elphaba – Broadway, Chicago) had a recurring role on the television drama “The Good Wife”.

McGowan to Join West End WICKED

The West End cast of WICKED will welcome Tom McGowan  in the role of the Wizard on September 21, 2015 for a limited season until March 12, 2016. This will be his West End debut. McGowan has played the Wizard on the 1st National Tour, San Francisco, and in three separate engagements on Broadway. McGowan’s other Broadway credits include CASA VALENTINA, CHICAGO, and IVANOV.  His many television credits include “Frasier”, “Everybody Loves Raymond”, “The War at Home” and guest starring roles in “Veep”, “Modern Family”, “Desperate Housewives”, “Brothers and Sisters”, “CSI”, “Hot in Cleveland”, “ER” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm”.  McGowan  has also been in several films, including “Sleepless in Seattle”, “The Family Man”, “Heavyweights”, “Bad Santa”, “As Good As It Gets”, “Bean”, “The Birdcage”, “Ghost World”, and “Twelve and Holding”.

McGowan joins a cast that includes Emma Hatton (Elphaba), Savannah Stevenson (Glinda), Oliver Savile (Fiyero), Liza Sadovy (Madame Morrible), Sean Kearns (Doctor Dillamond), Daniel Hope (Boq), Katie Rowley Jones (Nessarose), Natalie Andreou (Standby for Elphaba), Carina Gillespie (Standby for Glinda), Chloe Ames, Nicholas Collier, Laura Emmitt, Kerry Enright, Oliver Evans, Freya Field, Joseph Fletcher, Rosie Fletcher, David Gale, Sergio Giacomelli, Sheila Grant, Chester Hayes, Lauren James Ray, Aaron Jenkins, Jasmine Kerr, Natalie McQueen, Billy Mitchell, Scott Monello, Kane Oliver Parry, Steph Parry, Julienne Schembri, Paulo Teixeira, Joe Toland, Hannah Toy, Russell Walker and Helen Woolf.
