Broadway veteran Mamie Parris (former Elphaba – 1st Natl. Tour) will succeed pop star Leona Lewis in the part of Grizabella in the revival of CATS. Ms. Parris is currently starring as Patty in SCHOOL OF ROCK, a role she created.
CATS is composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber. It originally ran for 7,485 performances. The creative team for the new production includes scenic and costume design by John Napier, lighting design by Natasha Katz, sound design by Mick Potter, with choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler, based on the original choreography by Gillian Lynne. The director is Trevor Nunn.
Ms. Lewis will complete her three month run on October 9. A date for Ms. Parris’ debut has not been set.
Christine Dwyer (former Elphaba – Broadway; former s/b Elphaba – Broadway; former Elphaba, s/b Elphaba, ensemble, u/s Elphaba – 2nd Natl. Tour) has been cast in the upcoming tour of FINDING NEVERLAND. The Broadway musical FINDING NEVERLAND is based on the 2004 Academy Award winning movie of the same name by David Magee and the play “The Man Who Was Peter Pan” by Allan Knee. It follows the story of J.M. Barrie and the family who inspired Peter Pan. This Tony Award winning musical is set to begin touring the country on October 7 in Buffalo, NY.

Kristin Chenoweth (original Glinda – Broadway, Pre-Broadway) will return to Broadway this fall in MY LETTER TO BROADWAY. Ms. Chenoweth will perform a hand-picked selection of theatre favorites, including songs from her upcoming album The Art of Elegance. This limited engagement is presented by James L. Nederlander with music direction by Mary-Mitchell Campbell and costume design by Christian Siriano.
The limited engagement begins November 2, 2016 at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre and will run through November 13, 2016. Signature Theatre has announced the full cast for the world premier of Disney’s FREAKY FRIDAY. Emma Hunton (former Elphaba – 1st Natl. Tour) will star as Ellie Blake.
Developed by Disney Theatrical Productions expressly for licensing to theatres, FREAKY FRIDAY features a book by Bridget Carpenter, music by Tom Kitt and lyrics by Brian Yorky. It will be directed by Christopher Ashley with choreography by Sergio Trujillo. FREAKY FRIDAY will run from October 4 – November 20 in Signature Theatre’s MAX Theatre.

Casting has been announced for the Broadway premiere of A BRONX TALE THE MUSICAL. Richard H. Blake (former Fiyero – Asian Tour, Broadway, 1st Natl. Tour) will star as Lorenzo. The new musical features a book by Academy Award nominee Chazz Palminteri, music by Oscar, Grammy, and Tony Award winner Alan Menken, and lyrics by Grammy Award winner and Oscar and Tony Award nominee Glenn Slater, co-directed by two-time Oscar winner Robert De Niro and four-time Tony Award winner Jerry Zaks, with choreography by Tony nominee Sergio Trujillo.
“Based on the one-man show that inspired the now classic film, this streetwise musical will take you to the stoops of the Bronx in the 1960s-where a young man is caught between the father he loves and the mob boss he’d love to be. Featuring an original doo-wop score, this is a tale about respect, loyalty, love, and above all else: family.”
After a successful run premier at the Paper Mill Playhouse earlier this year, A BRONX TALE THE MUSICAL begins previews Thursday, November 3 and open Thursday, December 1 at the Longacre Theatre (220 West 48th Street).
