Dan Gleason has replaced Jonathan Shew in the ensemble and as an understudy for Fiyero and the Witch’s Father.
Emily Behny (Nessarose – 2nd Natl. Tour) and Teal Wicks (former Elphaba – Broadway, San Francisco, Los Angeles; former s/b Elphaba – Los Angeles) have been cast in the new folk rock musical THE CIRCUS IN WINTER, featuring a book by Hunter Foster and Beth Turcotte, beginning October 23 at Goodspeed’s Norma Terris Theatre in Chester, Connecticut. Performances will continue through November 16.
Ms. Behny will play the role of Irene and Ms. Wicks will play the role of Jennie Dixiana. In THE CIRCUS IN WINTER, according to Goodspeed, “legend and lore collide under the big top. Love, lust, betrayal, and tragedy unfold in a series of interwoven stories that reveal the private lives of a death-defying acrobat, sideshow African queen, lonely circus owner, disheveled clowns, and more. With a rootsy, folk rock score, this is one musical that you must not miss!”

Artists for World Peace will present its 4th Annual Broadway fundraiser on October 5th at Joe’s Pub. Hosted by Paul and Robbie Rescigno, the evening will feature some of Broadway’s top performers, including Alison Luff (former Elphaba – 1st Natl. Tour) and Blake Whyte (former ensemble, u/s Fiyero – Broadway). Musical Direction will be provided by Sonny Paladino.
Joe’s Pub is located at 425 Lafayette Street. The evening will begin at 9:00 PM and will be followed by a post-show party with the cast in The Public Theater’s restaurant The Library. Artists for World Peace is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Artists for World Peace raises funds through making art to support grass-roots organizations in communities around the world. Lilli Cooper (former s/b Elphaba – 2nd Natl. Tour, Australasian Tour; former ensemble, u/s Elphaba – 2nd Natl. Tour) will join the Broadway company of WICKED as the standby for Elphaba, replacing Jennifer DiNoia who is temporarily standing by for the role.

Alison Luff (former Elphaba – 1st Natl. Tour) will join the cast of the Broadway company of MATILDA as Miss Honey, beginning September 6.
MATILDA will mark Luff’s fourth Broadway credit, following MAMMA MIA!, GHOST and SCANDALOUS. Regional credits include Theatre Aspen’s 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE and LITTLE WOMEN.

Prospect Theater Company will present THE UNDERCLASSMAN at The Duke on 42nd Street beginning November 9 through November 23. The production will star Alex Wyse (former Boq – 2nd Ntl. Tour) as John Peale Bishop. THE UNDERCLASSMAN is inspired by F. Scott Fitzgerald’s “The Side of Paradise”. Music and lyrics are by Peter Mills with a book by Mills and Cara Reichel. Reichel will also direct with choreography by Christine O’Grady and musical direction and orchestrations by Daniel Feyer.

Lisa Brescia (former Elphaba – Chicago; former s/b Elphaba – Broadway) has been cast as The Witch in Playmakers Repertory Company’s upcoming production of INTO THE WOODS. The production will run November 1 through December 7 in rotating repertory with A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM. Performances will be at the Paul Green Theatre on the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill campus.

Nicole Parker (former Elphaba – 1st Natl. Tour, Broadway) is set to perform in the Labor Day Capitol Concert on the West Lawn of the US Capitol. According to Playbill, “The concert will feature patriotic favorites, including Aaron Copland’s “Fanfare for the Common Man,” “America the Beautiful” and Randol Alan Bass’ “A New Birth of Freedom,” a setting of the Gettysburg Address for orchestra and speaker.” The concert will also feature songs from several Broadway shows including WICKED, SOUTH PACIFIC, and LES MISERABLES.
The concert will be held at 8pm on August 31st, and gates open at 3pm. Admission is free.
In case of inclement weather, the concert will be moved to the Kennedy Center Concert Hall.

Tour) will appear at BROADWAY FANTASY CAMP’S ALL DAY BROADWAY: WICKED. Joining DiNoia and Stickler will be Jason Yarcho, previous conductor for the 1st National Tour of WICKED. The event is set for October 18.
BROADWAY FANTASY CAMP is the ultimate experience for any adult looking to savor the spotlight down center or in the chorus, despite talent or experience level. At Broadway Fantasy Camp, theatre lovers will “defy gravity” as they spend a day immersed in the world of this Broadway hit.
Participants will meet in a Broadway rehearsal studio and work with Broadway professionals to create a customized presentation, to be presented for family and friends. As a bonus, professional headshots will be taken.
