Ben Liebert (former Boq – 1st Ntl. Tour, Broadway) has been cast in an invite-only reading of the WWII musical BY WHEEL AND BY WIND.
According to press notes, the show “relates the struggle of the Parnes family who lived on the Polish-Ukraine border at the outbreak of World War II. Through luck, coincidence and the family’s insistence on staying together, they found themselves traveling always eastward. Although the Jewish family remained only a few days ahead of the Nazi invasion, they were never caught or imprisoned, and survived, family intact, at the end of the war.”
The reading will be held at 6pm on November 3, 2014 in the Edmond J. Safra Hall of the Museum of Jewish Heritage at 36 Battery Place.

Sarah Schenkkan (former ensemble, u/s Glinda – 1st Natl. Tour) has been cast as Alice in the Canadian premiere of THE HEART OF ROBIN HOOD. THE HEART OF ROBIN HOOD will play at the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre in Winnipeg from November 11 through December 6, with an official opening November 13. The production will then play Toronto’s Royal Alexandra Theatre December 23 through March 1, 2015.
According to press notes, playwright David Farr‘s THE HEART OF ROBIN HOOD is a “ wildly imaginative, theatrically dazzling new spin on the familiar fable that has thrilled and surprised audiences international. Critics have cheered the eye-popping, athletic and endlessly inventive production from acclaimed director Gisli Örn Gardarsson, which explodes off the stage to take place in front, above and on all sides of the audience. This rollicking production is filled with swashbuckling, acrobatics, comedy, romance and original music, played on-stage, by the acclaimed band PARSONFIELD.
Forget everything you ever knew about Robin Hood. In this reimagining, Robin and his unmerry gang of cutthroats steal from the rich, but it’s never occurred to them to give anything back to anyone. But when wicked Prince John threatens all, bold Marion steps in to protect the poor and transform a thuggish Robin from hood to good.”
