The newly formed Capital City Theatre, a regional music theater company in Madison, Wisconsin, will launch its debut season in June with VIOLET. Christine Dwyer (former Elphaba – Broadway; former s/b Elphaba – Broadway; former Elphaba, s/b Elphaba, ensemble, u/s Elphaba – 2nd Ntl. Tour) will star in the title role; additional casting will be announced at a later date.
Written by Jeanine Tesori and Brian Crawley, VIOLET made its Broadway debut last season starring Sutton Foster. VIOLET “is the story of a young woman’s quest for beauty amidst the image-obsessed landscape of the 1960s. Facially disfigured in a childhood accident, Violet dreams of a miraculous transformation through the power of faith. Convinced that a televangelist in Oklahoma can heal her, she hops a Greyhound bus and starts the journey of a lifetime.”

The Denver Center for the Performing Arts has announced the world premier of THE 12, a new rock musical with book and lyrics by Tony Award winner Robert Schenkkan and music and lyrics by Neil Berg. Partial casting includes Colin Hanlon (former Fiyero – 1st Ntl. Tour). Full casting will be announced at a later date.
THE 12 will play March 27-April 26, closing the 2014-15 season.
The company of the 2nd National Tour of WICKED will welcome Alyssa Fox (current Elphaba s/b – 2nd Natl. Tour; former ensemble, u/s Elphaba – San Francisco) as Elphaba and Liana Hunt as Nessarose on January 28th in Greenville, SC. Hunt has most recently been seen on Broadway as Katherine Plumber in NEWSIES.
They join a cast that includes Carrie St. Louis as Glinda, Kristine Zbornik as Madame Morrible, John Davidson as the Wizard, Ashley Parker Angel as Fiyero, Lee Slobotkin as Boq, and Michael DeVries as Dr. Dillamond with Emily Koch as the Elphaba stand-by. The ensemble includes Keith A. Bearden, Kerry Blanchard, Whitney Brandt, Jane Brockman, Beka Burnham, Bridie Carroll, Kennedy Caughell, Antonette Cohen, Hayley Ann Dorling, Michael Drolet, Natalie Fotopoulos, Dan Gleason, Kali Grinder, Lauren Haughton, Ryan Jackson, Dashi’ Mitchell, Lauren Sambataro, Wayne Schroder, Mark Shunkey, Travis Taber, Jeremy Thompson, Nicky Venditti, Michael Williams and Justin Wirick.

Roundabout Theater has completed casting for the Broadway revival of ON THE TWENTIETH CENTURY. As previously announced, Kristin Chenoweth (original Glinda – Broadway, Pre-Broadway) will star as Lily Garland. Joining Chenoweth and Peter Gallagher are WICKED alums Mamie Parris (former Elphaba – 1st Ntl. Tour) and Andy Karl (former Fiyero – Broadway).
ON THE TWENTIETH CENTURY will open on March 15, 2015 for a limited 20 week engagement at the American Airlines Theater.

Congratulations to Caroline Bowman (former ensemble, u/s Elphaba – Broadway) and Kara Lindsay (current Glinda – 2nd Natl. Tour), who will be taking over the roles of Elphaba and Glinda respectively, in the Broadway company starting on December 16, 2014. In addition to Ms. Bowman and Ms. Lindsay taking over the roles, Kathy Fitzgerald (Current Madame Morrible – 2nd Natl. Tour, former Madame Morrible – Broadway), will return as Madame Morrible, Matt Shingledecker (current Fiyero – 2nd Natl. Tour) will take over as Fiyero, and Robin De Jesús will take over as Boq.

Whitney Brandt will be joining the 2nd National Tour of WICKED, beginning November 26 in Norfolk, VA. Ms. Brandt will be performing in the ensemble and understudying the role of Glinda, replacing Lindsey Brett Carothers.
Ms. Brandt is a recent graduate of the University of Michigan’s musical theatre program and has performed in The MUNY’s productions of WEST SIDE STORY and SHREK.
