Full casting has been announced for the world-premier production of Michael John LaChiusa‘s musical adaptation of the 1921 short story “Rain”. The world premiere of RAIN will be at Old Globe Theatre in San Diego, CA, with previews beginning March 24, and an opening night set for April 1. Eden Espinosa (former Elphaba – San Francisco, Los Angeles, Broadway; former t/r Elphaba – 1st Natl. Tour; former s/b Elphaba, u/s Nessarose – Broadway) will play the role of Sadie Thompson. Jared Zirilli (former ensemble, u/s Fiyero – 1st Natl. Tour) will take on the part of Alfred Davidson.
Old Globe artistic director Barry Edelstein will make his musical theatre debut with the production. The creative team includes Patrick McCollum (movement), J. Oconer Navarro (music director), Bruce Coughlin (orchestrations), Mark Wendland (scenic design), Katherine Roth (costume design), Russell H. Champa (lighting design) and Ken Travis.

Fox’s THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW has announced casting for its two hour event, scheduled to air this fall. Ben Vereen (former Wizard – Broadway, Chicago) will take on the part of Dr. Everett Scott, played by Jonathan Adams in the 1975 movie. Annaleigh Ashford (former Glinda – Chicago, Broadway; former ensemble, u/s Glinda – 1st Natl. Tour) joins the cast as Columbia.
THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW is a reimagining of the cult classic. It follows sweethearts Janet and Brad, who stumble upon Dr. Frank-N-Furter’s bizarre abode. Frank-N-Furter, a sexually ambiguous, flirtatious alien mad-scientist – with the help of his faithful servants, Riff Raff and Magenta – is holding an annual, Transylvanian Science convention to showcase the birth of “Rocky Horror” – a fit, attractive man created solely to fulfill Frank’s desires.

Tour) will play the part of Evelyn Williams and Anna Eilinsfeld (former ensemble, u/s Elphaba – Broadway; former ensemble, u/s Elphaba, Nessarose – 2nd Natl. Tour) will play Victoria. AMERICAN PSYCHO is based on the novel by Bret Easton Ellis. The new musical has music and lyrics by Tony and Grammy Award-winner Duncan Sheik and a book by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa. With choreography by Tony Award-nominee Lynne Page, AMERICAN PSYCHO will be directed by Olivier Award-winner Rupert Goold.
The new musical will begin performances on Broadway at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre at 236 West 45th Street on Thursday, March 24, 2016 with Opening Night scheduled for Wednesday, April 20, 2016.
The West End cast of WICKED will welcome Mark Curry to the role of the Wizard on March 25. Current Wizard Tom McGowan will play his last performance on March 12. From March 12-24, the Wizard will be played by Sean Kearns. Curry has had a long, successful career in the entertainment industry. His most recent theater appearances include AND THEN THERE WERE NONE, VICTOR/VICTORIA, and THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW.
Curry joins a cast that includes Emma Hatton as Elphaba, Savannah Stevenson as Glinda, Oliver Savile as Fiyero, Liza Sadovy as Madame Morrible, Sean Kearns as Dr. Dillamond, Daniel Hope as Boq, and Katie Rowley Jones as Nessarose.
Michelle Federer (Nessarose – Original Broadway Cast) was the understudy forJulia Roberts in THREE DAYS OF RAIN.
Richard H. Blake (former Fiyero – Asian Tour, Broadway, 1st Natl. Tour), Kristoffer Cusick (former Fiyero – Chicago, Los Angeles; former t/r Fiyero – Broadway; former ensemble, u/s Fiyero – Broadway, Pre-Broadway), Andy Karl (former Fiyero – Broadway) and Adam Garcia (Fiyero – Original West End Cast) have all performed in SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER.
Jenni Barber (former Glinda – Broadway) and Megan Sikora (former ensemble, u/s Glinda – Chicago; former ensemble, u/s Glinda, Nessarose – Broadway) were both in the short-lived Broadway production of THE NANCE.
The Broadway company of WICKED will welcome new cast members beginning Tuesday, Feburary 2. Carrie St. Louis will take over the role of Glinda, Peter Scolari as the Wizard, Dawn Cantwell as Nessarose, Michael Genet as Dr. Dillamond, and Zachary Noah Piser as Boq.They replace Kara Lindsay, Fred Applegate, Arielle Jacobs, Timothy Britten Parker, and Robin de Jesus. Beginning February 16, two-time Tony Award winner Judy Kaye will take on the role of Madame Morrible. She replaces Michele Lee. They join a cast that includes Rachel Tucker as Elphaba and Jonah Platt as Fiyero.
St. Louis comes directly from the 2nd National Tour of WICKED. She was previously seen as Sherrie in ROCK OF AGES. Scolari is most known for his roles in “Bosom Buddies”,”Honey, I Shrunk the Kids”, and “Newhart”. Cantwell was most recently seen on Broadway in THE LAST SHIP. Genet has guest starred in a number of TV series. Piser was most recently seen Off-Broadway in MAD LIBS: LIVE! Kaye has several theater credits including CINDERELLA, PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, and SWEENEY TODD.
Ana Gasteyer (former Elphaba – Broadway, Chicago) has joined the cast of GREASE: LIVE as Principal McGee. She joins the previously announced cast that includes Aaron Tveit (former Fiyero – Broadway) as Danny Zuko.
