Taye Diggs (former Fiyero – Broadway) has been tapped to succeed Darren Criss in the title role in HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH. As previously announced, Criss will play his last performance on July 19. Diggs will play a limited 12 week engagement beginning on July 22.

The full cast has been announced for Bay Street Theater & Dreamworks Theatricals’ upcoming concert reading of the musical adaptation of THE PRINCE OF EGYPT. With a book by Philip LaZabnik and music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz (composer of WICKED), THE PRINCE OF EGYPT is based on the 1998 film of the same name. Julia Murney (former Elphaba – Broadway, 1st Natl. Tour) will be among the stars featured.
The Broadway company of WICKED will welcome a new Madame Morrible and Wizard of Oz. Michele Lee will replace Kathy Fitgerald on July 5 as Madame Morrible. On top of her many television and movie credits, Lee was nominated for a Tony in the 2000 comedy THE TALE OF THE ALLERGIST’S WIFE. Fred Applegate will replace PJ Benjamin as the Wizard on June 29. Applegate was most recently seen on Broadway in THE LAST SHIP.
Sebastian Arcelus (former Fiyero – Broadway, 1st Natl. Tour) played the role of Frank in the movie adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks best seller “The Best of Me”.
Richard H. Blake (former Fiyero – Asian Tour, Broadway, 1st Natl. Tour) is currently playing the role of Tommy DeVito in JERSEY BOYS on Broadway. Andy Karl (former Fiyero – Broadway) has also played the role on Broadway and Nicholas Dromard (former ensemble, Fiyero u/s – 1st Natl. Tour; former Fiyero – San Francisco) took on the role on the national tour.
Lenny Wolpe (former Wizard – 1st Natl. Tour, Broadway) was in the original Broadway cast of THE DROWSY CHAPERONE. Mamie Parris (former Elphaba – 1st Natl. Tour) and Kate Loprest (former ensemble, u/s Glinda, Nessarose – Chicago) also performed in the Broadway production.
On July 13, Emma Hunton (former Elphaba – 1st Natl. Tour), Desi Oakley (ensemble, u/s Nessarose/midwife – Broadway; former universal swing), Daniel Quadrino (former ensemble, Boq u/s – Broadway) and Lauren Ashley Zakrin (former ensemble, u/s Glinda – 1st Natl. Tour) will join several other Broadway stars to celebrate the music of pop star Katy Perry. The evening will be produced and music directed by Benjamin Rauhala and is the 6th in the Broadway Loves series.

The American Repertory Theater at Harvard University has announced principal casting of the new musical WAITRESS. Based on the motion picture written by Adrienne Shelly, WAITRESS features a score by Sara Bareilles and book by Jessie Nelson, direction by Diane Paulus, and choreography by Chase Brock. Jeanna de Waal (former Glinda – 2nd Natl. Tour) will be joining the cast in the role of Dawn.

Megan Hilty (former Glinda – Los Angeles, 1st Natl. Tour, Broadway; former s/b Glinda – Broadway) will star in the New York City Center’s annual Gala ANNIE GET YOUR GUN: In Concert. This one night only concert will help fund New York City Center‘s artistic and education programs. Additional casting will be announced at a later date. Directed by Joe Rando, the Gala will be held on October 27, 2015. With musical direction by Rob Berman, Annie Get Your Gun has music and lyrics by Irving Berlin and a book by Herbert and Dorothy Fields.

Teal Wicks (former Elphaba – Broadway, San Francisco, Los Angeles; former s/b Elphaba – Los Angeles) and Emmy Raver-Lampman (former s/b Elphaba – 1st Natl. Tour) were in the short-lived Broadway production of JEKYLL & HYDE.
Carole Shelley (former Madame Morrible – Broadway, Chicago, 1st Natl. Tour) is currently starring in A GENTLEMAN’S GUIDE TO LOVE AND MURDER on Broadway.
