Andy Karl & Idina Menzel Nominated for Drama League Awards

Andy Karl (former Fiyero – Broadway) and Idina Menzel (former Elphaba – West End, Broadway) have been nominated for Distinguished Performance Awards by the Drama League; Mr. Karl for his work in ROCKY and Ms. Menzel for her work in IF/THEN.

The award ceremony will be held on May 16 at the Marriott Marquis at 11:30 am. Performers are only eligible to receive this award one time during their lives.

Wicks to Perform at 54 Below

tealOn May 8th, Teal Wicks (former Elphaba – Broadway, San Francisco, Los Angeles; former s/b Elphaba – Los Angeles) will present a night of songs with an acoustic set led by Jasper Grant.  The concert, which begins at 9:30 PM, will feature the works of Janis Joplin, Sarah Vaughan, Van Morrison, Patty Griffin, and others who have inspired Ms. Wicks.

There is a $30-$40 cover charge with an additional $5 at the door.  The food/beverage minimum is $25.  For more information, visit

Jeanna de Waal (former Glinda – 2nd Ntl. Tour), Mandy Gonzalez (former Elphaba – Broadway), Jenna Leigh Green (former Nessarose – Los Angeles, Broadway; former Nessarose, u/s Elphaba – 1st Ntl. Tour), Alli Mauzey (former Glinda – Broadway, 1st Ntl. Tour, San Francisco; former s/b Glinda – Broadway) and Jennifer Laura Thompson (former Glinda – Broadway) will perform in OUTCASTS LIKE US: MORE SONGS BY MARTIN AND REALBUTO at 54 Below on April 25, at 11 PM.

This concert will feature music from GHOSTLIGHT, a Broadway bound  musical by Tim Realbuto and Matthew Martin and well-known covers. Martin and Realbuto will co-host the event, as well as sing. Kate Fahrner Cast as an Understudy in UNDER MY SKIN

Kate Fahrner (former s/b Glinda – Broadway; former t/r Glinda, former ensemble, u/s Glinda, u/s Nessarose – Chicago) has been cast as an understudy in the off-Broadway play, UNDER MY SKIN. Ms. Fahrner  will cover the roles of Melody Dent, Casey Dent, Nanette and Victoria, played by Kerry ButlerAllison StrongMegan Sikora (former ensemble, u/s Glinda, u/s Nessarose – Chicago, Broadway) and Kate Loprest (former ensemble, u/s Glinda, u/s Nessarose – Chicago). Currently in previews, UNDER MY SKIN will open at the Little Shubert Theatre on May 15. Tickets are currently on sale through July 6.

Haynie and Brightman Cast in New York Premiere of THANKSKILLING THE MUSICAL

THANKSKILLING THE MUSICAL will make its New York debut at the first annual Festival of the Offensive. The musical, adapted from the cult horror movie of the same name, will be directed by David Eck (in association with Ashley Kate Adams and AKA Studio Productions) and choreographed by David Rosetti. Musical direction will be provided by Aaron Jodoin. F. Michael Haynie (former Boq – Broadway) and Alex Brightman (former Boq – Broadway) have both been cast in the production.

Wicked Alums to Perform at NAMT Songwriters Spotlight

The National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT) will highlight the three songwriting teams of Paul Gordon, Barbara Anselmi & Brian Hargrove, and Ben Clark, who have been part of NAMT’s Festival of New Musicals.  As well as the writers themselves, set to perform for the evening are WICKED alums Patti Murin (former Glinda – 1st Ntl. Tour) and Corey Mach (former ensemble, u/s Fiyero – 1st Ntl. Tour).
