We know it’s been a while, but we have an exciting podcast for you this week, with special guest Lesley McKinnell! Lesley has some fantastic credits, including covering Glinda and Nessarose in both national touring companies of WICKED! She has performed regularly in regional theatre as well, including the roles of Adelaide in GUYS AND DOLLS and Elizabeth in YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN. She is now one of the stars of the new vlog TICK TALK BOOM, which we recently posted about. It’s a hilarious vlog and we’re sure you’ll enjoy it!

In this interview, Lesley chats with Christina and Isaac about the vlog, performing/auditioning for WICKED, exciting regional credits, hysterical bubble-bloopers, and much more! Give us a listen and let us know what you think!

Beka Burnham to Join WICKED 2nd National Tour

Beka Burnham will join the 2nd National Tour of WICKED on August 20 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Ms. Burnham will perform in the ensemble and understudy the roles of Glinda and Nessarose, replacing Kelly Felthous. Ms. Burnham is a recent graduate of Boston Conservatory’s Musical Theatre program.

Video Footage: Chenoweth and Ellis Sing “For Good”

On Saturday July 12, Kristin Chenoweth (original Glinda – Broadway, Pre-Broadway) took the stage at the Royal Albert Hall in London for a one night only concert.  As usual, Ms. Chenoweth sang “For Good” but this time, she invited Kerry Ellis (former Elphaba - West End, Broadway; former s/b Elphaba – West End) to sing with her.  As previously announced here, Ms. Ellis will return to WICKED for a limited engagement.  The video is embedded below for your convenience and is credited to YouTube user Andrew Grindlay.

WICKED Welcomes Back Schwartz and BenShlomo

Chandra Lee Schwartz and Etai BenShlomo will join the 1st National Tour of WICKED in Salt Lake City on July 29. They join a cast that includes Emma Hunton and Elphaba, Alison Fraser as Madame Morrible, and Tim Kazurinsky as The Wizard.  The cast also includes Nick Adams (Fiyero), Jenny Florkowski (Nessarose), Tom Flynn (Dr. Dillamond), and Emmy Raver-Lampman (stand-by for Elphaba) with Shayla Beck, Dina Bennett, Nikki Bohne, Lauren Boyd, Kyle Brown, Nirine S. Brown, John Carroll, Rick Desloge, Timothy A. Fitz-Gerald, Dominic Giudici, Brenda Jean Hamilton, Spencer Jones, Sheila Karls, Trevor Ryan Krahl, Rebecca Kritzer, Marina Lazzaretto, Allison Leo, Marissa Lupp, Raymond Joel Matsamura, Jonathan McGill, Kevin McMahon, Shanon Mari Mills, Christopher Russo and Daniel Switzer.

Ms. Schwartz returns to WICKED after having played Glinda both on Broadway and the 1st National Tour. Mr. BenShlomo returns after having previously played Boq in the Broadway production.

WICKED will be in Salt Lake City through August 24.

Billy Harrigan Tighe (former Fiyero, former ensemble, u/s Fiyero – 2nd Natl. Tour) will join the West End production of THE BOOK OF MORMON as Elder Price, beginning July 28. Tighe joins a cast that includes Alexia Khadime (former Elphaba – West End) as Nabulungi.

Kerry Ellis to Return to West End Company of WICKED

Kerry Ellis (former Elphaba – West End, Broadway; original s/b Elphaba – West End) will return to the West End production of WICKED for a limited engagement August 4 through October 25, 2014. Willemijn Verkaik (Elphaba – West End; former Elphaba – Broadway, Scheveningen, Oberhausen, Stuttgart) will play her final performance as Elphaba July 19 at 7:30 PM. Ms. Verkaik departs the production in order to have surgery to address an ongoing back condition. Emma Hatton (s/b Elphaba – West End) will play the role of Elphaba for all performances between July 21 through August 2.

Kerry Ellis will not be appearing in WICKED August 19, September 27, October 2-October 10, October 14-October 16 and October 18 due to scheduled concert appearances.

Brynn O’Malley (former Nessarose – 1st Natl. Tour, Broadway) has been cast as Dot/Marie in Signature Theatre’s upcoming production of SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE, which will begin performances August 15. Performances will continue through September 21 at Signature’s MAX Theatre. Ms. O’Malley performed in the 2008 Broadway revival of SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE, where she played Celeste/Elaine and understudied Dot/Marie.
