WICKED has landed in Houston (includes interview with Amanda Jane Cooper)
The company of the 2nd National Tour of WICKED will welcome Jeremy Woodard as Fiyero on August 2. Woodard’s Broadway credits include THE LAST SHIP, SCHOOL OF ROCK, ROCK OF AGES, GLORY DAYS, MISS SAIGON, and HAIRSPRAY. He has also appeared on t.v. in “T.G.I.F.”, “Crossbones”,”The Big C”, and “Smash”.
Woodard joins a company that includes Emily Koch as Elphaba, Amanda Jane Cooper as Glinda, Stuard Zagnit as the Wizard, Wendy Worthington as Madame Morrible, Megan Masako Haley as Nessarose, Sam Seferian as Boq, and Chad Jennings as Dr. Dillamond. Emily Schultheis is the stand-by for Elphaba with Allison Bailey, Kerry Blanchard, Jillian Butler, Jordan Casanova, Michael DiLiberto, Michael Drolet, Ryan Patrick Farrell, Anthony Festa, Dominic Guidici, Kali Grinder, Lauren Haughton, Garett Hawe, Ryan Jackson, Kelly Lafarga, Melissa Legaspi, Olivia Polci, Wayne Schroder, Tregoney Shepher, Ben Susak, Travis Taber, Jeremy Thompson, and Justin Wirick.
The Tennessee Performing Arts Center will launch its 2016-2017 with EVITA, which will run from September 9-18. Eden Espinosa (former Elphaba – San Francisco, Los Angeles, Broadway; former t/r Elphaba – 1st Ntl. Tour; former s/b Elphaba, u/s Nessarose – Broadway) will take on the role of Eva Peron.

106.7 LITE FM’s annual lunchtime summer series, Broadway in Bryant Park, returned today. Representing WICKED were current Elphaba Rachel Tucker, current Glinda Carrie St. Louis, and current Fiyero Jonah Platt. Lindsay Mendez (former Elphaba – Broadway) and Natalie Weiss (former ensemble, u/s Elphaba – 2nd Natl. Tour) were both in the short-lived Broadway musical EVERYDAY RAPTURE.
Vicki Noon (former ensemble, u/s Elphaba – Broadway, Chicago; former Elphaba – 2nd Natl. Tour; former s/b Elphaba – San Francisco, Los Angeles) and Kristoffer Cusick (former Fiyero – Chicago, Los Angeles; former t/r Fiyero – Broadway; former ensemble, u/s Fiyero – Broadway, Pre-Broadway), and Kate Loprest (former ensemble, u/s Glinda, u/s Nessarose – Chicago) were all in the Broadway cast of FIRST DATE.
Barrington Stage Company has announced full casting for its production of PIRATES OF PENZANCE. Kyle Dean Massey (former Fiyero – Broadway, 1st Natl. Tour; former ensemble, u/s Fiyero – Broadway, 1st Natl. Tour) will star as Frederic and David Garrison (former Wizard – San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Broadway, 1st Natl. Tour) will star as the Major General. The production is directed by John Rando, choreographed by Joshua Bergasse with scenic design by Beowulf Boritt, costume design by Jess Goldstein, wig design by Leah Loukas, lighting design by Jason Lyons, sound design by Ed Chapman, musical direction by Darren R. Cohen and fight choreography by Ryan Winkles.

Kristin Chenoweth (original Glinda – Broadway, Pre-Broadway) has been cast as Velma Von Tussle in NBC’s upcoming production of HAIRSPRAY Live. She joins the previously announced Derek Hough, Harvey Fierstein, Jennifer Hudson, Martin Short, and newcomer Maddie Baillio.
HAIRSPRAY Live will air on NBC on December 7 at 8 pm.
“Broadway Up, Guns Down is charity benefit concert in response to the tragic mass shooting that occurred at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, Florida. Broadway artists will unite to uplift through song honoring the beautiful lives lost. All funds raised will go directly to the Zebra Coalition in Orlando, FL, a LGTBQ youth based non-for-profit currently offering assistance in Orlando.” WICKED alums performing at this benefit include Christine Dwyer (former Elphaba – Broadway; former s/b Elphaba – Broadway; former Elphaba, s/b Elphaba, ensemble, u/s Elphaba – 2nd Natl. Tour), Jenni Barber (former Glinda – Broadway), Stephanie Torns (former s/b Elphaba – 2nd Natl. Tour; former ensemble, u/s Elphaba – Broadway, 1st Natl. Tour), Michael McCorry Rose (former ensemble, u/s Fiyero – Broadway; former ensemble, u/s Fiyero – 2nd Natl. Tour) and Daniel Quadrino (former ensemble, Boq u/s – Broadway).

Caroline Bowman (former Elphaba – Broadway; former ensemble, u/s Elphaba – Broadway) will make her solo debut at 54 Below on Friday, July 8. “In addition to singing hits from her career, and a few other songs from Oz, Caroline will remove the green makeup and explore a role she hasn’t yet played in New York- herself.” Nathan Brewer will direct and produce, as well as being the music director.
